The post ww2 ( 1945 to 1974 ) York City Fire Brigade was a small county borough fire brigade with only 1 station covering 10 square miles!
That is the main reason why original cap badges from this brigade are harder to come by with only a limited batch number of cap badges supplied throughout its 26 year life span! The pre war York City Fire Brigade had a standard grenade style cap badge with the coat of arms of York attached to it in white metal to the brass grenade!
This cap badge has the 2.5mm enamelled centre attached to the standard fully pressed home office star by 2 straps, both cap fixing lugs are intact to the rear.
