The Scottish Western Area Fire Brigade was formed in 1948 after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service ) handed back fire control to regional county's & county borough fire brigades. It covered 3,529 square miles taking in the area's of Argyll, Bute & Renfrewshire with 21 fire stations. This cap badge is in great condition, the enamel centre depicting the standard Scottish emblem with the brigades name within the red ring circlet. The enamel centre is attached to the standard economy issue lined Home Office star via a thin brass pin, the 2 cap fixing lugs intact to the rear.
