West Ham Fire Brigade post  ww2 started life after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service ) handed back fire control to regional county & county borough fire brigades in 1947. West Ham was a small area of East London & covered just 7 square miles & had 2 fire stations. Original West Ham Fire Brigade cap badges have 2 main variations being a dark yellow or light yellow colour. The brigade merged into London GLC ( Greater London Council ) Fire Brigade in 1965 when London expanded its borders swallowing up West Ham & East Ham Fire Brigades.

This original West Ham Fire Brigade 1948 to 1965 is the darker yellow variation so an early pressing i.e late 1940's & early 1950's. There is a small chip on the title scroll of the enamel centre, which is fixed to the standard lined economy issue Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge.
