Warrington Fire Service came into being post ww2 in 1948 after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control to regional county & smaller county borough fire brigades !
A very small county borough fire brigade with one fire station covering just 7 square miles of area, there are 3 actual variations issued between 1948 to 1974 when the brigade merged into Cheshire Fire Brigade.
The first issue was a red ring variation & in the late 1950's the badge changed to a coat of arms badge with the title WARRINGTON. There are 2 variations of this coat of arms cap badge which was issued until 1974. A gilt enamel coat of arms & a chrome enamel coat of arms.
This variation manufactured by London Badge & Button Company is the gilt enamel coat of arms variation, the enamel centre fixed to the standard LB&B hHome Office star & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge.
