A really nice original issue & hard to obtain Warrington County Borough Fire Service chrome enamel coat of arms  cap badge, the 2nd issue for this small county borough fire brigade.

Warrington Fire Service came into being post ww2 in 1948 after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control to regional county & smaller county borough fire brigades !

A very small county borough fire brigade with one fire station covering just 7 square miles of area, there are 3 actual variations issued between 1948 to 1974 when the brigade merged into Cheshire Fire Brigade.

The first issue was a red ring variation & in the late 1950's the badge changed to a coat of arms badge with the title WARRINGTON. There are 2 variations of this coat of arms cap badge which was issued until 1974. A gilt enamel coat of arms & a chrome enamel coat of arms.

This lovley condition original issue 2nd pattern chrome enamel coat of arms Warrington Fire Service cap badge issued late 1950's has the enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge.

A hard to find badge for you minions of collectors out there !
