A nice original & unusual 2nd patern flat star variation of the harder to obtain Wallasey County Borough Fire Brigade. What is unusual about it is the lugs & centre have been fitted vertical to the star, the centre's lance cut slot fitted central & vertical & so no doubt the manufacturer corrected this error by attaching the rear prongs of the enamel centre to oblige ! This issue 2nd patern badge issued early 1960's onwards until 1972/3 when this small cash strapped county borough fire brigade decided to issue blue Wallasey Ambulance Service cap badges to the last batches of recruits before the imminent merger into Merseyside Fire Brigade looming for 1974 !
This again makes those very rare blue ringed badges even harder to obtain because Ambulance cap badge collectors wont part with them.
This cap badge is in good used condition, the centre fixed to the standard issue economy, lined Home Office star & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge.
