This original Auxiliary Fire Service 1938 ww2 era Wallasey AFS cap badge is in good condition, used with usual signs of wear, some brass showing through the chrome plated finish, copper lugs to the rear,  indicating early 1940's fully pressed issue. Also initialed T.S scratched into the rear. The centre of the star depicting the coat of arms of Wallasey, a police issue collar badge welded to the front of a standard fully pressed A.F.S star. This being the practice of Wallasey AFS firefighters who recognised their distinction from a standard badge ! 
The badge is in good overall condition, a limited edition, Wallasey being a one station fire brigade covering 14 square miles. Not many come up for sale on the open market.
