Suffolk Fire Service was formed in 1974 after the Fire Services Act of the same year merged all previous post 1948 county & county borough fire brigades into larger regional county fire services. Suffolk Fire Service took the form of the previous Suffolk & Ipswich Fire Service. The 1st issue cap badge we have here is a bronze bass metal finish with a 3mm thick centre fixed to the economy issue home office star. London Badge & Button Company & Firmin & Sons were 2 well known manufacturers & official suppliers to the Suffolk County post 1974 to 2004 Fire Service. 

This cap badge is in fine original condition & would make a nice addition to any fire brigade cap badge collection.
