Suffolk Fire Service was formed in 1974 merging the old Suffolk & Ipswich Fire Service of 1948 into a new fire service. Suffolk Fire Service consisted of 35 fire stations covering an area of 1,466 square miles of Suffolk County. The brigade lasted 30 years until 2004 when a new cap badge was designed to reflect the new Fire & Rescue Service title. 

This cap badge manufactured by London Badge & Button Company of Northamptonshire, official cap badge suppliers to the brigade is in excellent mint un issued condition. The gilt centre fixed to the standard economy issue lined Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge.
