The Scottish Strathclyde Fire Brigade was formed in 1975 by amalgamating the post 1948 Scottish Fire Brigades of Glasgow, Lanarkshire, South Western Area, Western Area & parts of Central Area. The Strathclyde Fire Brigade covered an area of 5,227 square miles with 84 fire stations & changed its title to Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Service in 2005. This cap badge manufactured by Gaunt & Sons of London, official suppliers of cap badges to the later period of the Strathclyde Fire Brigade is in excellent condition, the gilt patina is perfect, the enamel centre is attached to the standard lined Home Office star & both cap fixing lugs are in place to the rear.
