Unusual South African ribbon set sown on to part of an old jacket..(would imagine the original jacket was “sliced & diced” ;o), the bars are as follows

1…WW2 War Medal

2…WW2 Burma Star

3…WW2 Atlantic Star

4…WW2 1939 to 1945 Star

5…South African Union Medal

6…South African Defence Force 40 Year Service Medal

Obviously this man saw some service, the fact he has the Atlantic & Burma stars points to him being maritime navy, the South African Army were mainly operating in Africa & Italy, not many army personnel were awarded other British WW2 (world war 2) star’s apart from Naval or Merchantile Marine, (Merchant Navy)!
