A 100% original & in absolutely great condition, this hard to obtain, small county borough fire brigade had just 1 (one) station & covered just 21 square miles!

Formed in 1964 when the West Midlands area was going through some boundary changes, this Solihull Fire Brigade cap badge was in force for just 10 years till 1974, when major fire service reforms transferred all smaller county borough fire brigades into county brigades.

Very few original examples appear on the market for sale, there are many copies…(see pics of a post 1976 restruck example).

 The correct lined rear star..(an economy standard factory issue depending if there was enough metal in stock to strike full or pressed batches..), the enamel centre heralding the arms of Solihull within a shield, held to the home office star with a thin brass pin neatly turned at the tip!

The badge appears to have been upon a cap as the rear lugs show very small signs of a pin having been in place. Either way a nice original example from a small county borough brigade of the “swinging sixties” vintage era!
