These badges are sought after by collectors, this nice original condition hat badge from the 1916 era is complete with both lug fixings to the rear.

The Life Saving Girl Guards were set up by The Salvation Army for young girls, the moto “To Save & To Serve”. The guards were aged from 6 (six) years old upwards, the age ranges 6 to 10 (ten) year olds were known as “ Sunbeams”, 11 (eleven) to 13 (thirteen) year olds were “ Junior Guards “ & “ Senior Guards “ were 14 (fourteen) years upwards ! The badges had classes of award, this is a 1st Class example with the banner, the patrol in the centre stands for “ The Guarding Of Others “, surrounded by 3 (three) symbols, the eye, the lamp & the book (The Bible)! It ran clubs for physical excellence & promoted health, strength, discipline & vigilance in the guarding of others!
