This extremely well preserved & fine condition Imperial Bavarian Police, senior officers leather pickelhaube helmet heralds the nickel furniture of a senior officer with the lions heads holding the scaled chinstrap. The Bavarian state badge on the front with gothic letters “ In Treue Fest “..(in loyalty steadfast), standing proud of this rare WW1 Imperial German pickelhaube!
The state cockade on left hand side of the helmet holds some of the original paint & is brass, the liner a little dry but complete, no extra holes at front almost assuring original badge was as issued to the helmet. The leather itself has scratches & cracking as you would expect from 100 year old leather helmet, also held in place by leather holding wedges is the Bavarian State wappen (badge).
The previous owners have kept this rare helmet in excellent condition & we are proud to have it on our site.
The Kingdom of Bavaria was in existence from 1806 to the end of the “Great War”, world war one 1914 to 1918. Located in the South West of Germany close to Austria & Czechoslovakia, this large kingdom provided many fighting men for Khaiser Wilhelm’s imperial forces.
