Nottinghamshire Fire Service was formed in 1948 after the National Fire Service ( N.F.S 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control to regional county & county borough fire brigades after world war 2 ( ww2 1939 to 1945 ).

Nottinghamshire County Fire Service was a medium sized brigade covering 819 square miles of area with 25 fire stations. This cap badge is one of 2 variations available to collectors, the THICK RIM variation. There is also a thin rim variation available & this badge has the enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue lined Home Office star via a thin brass pin, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear. There is some minor damage to the enamel centre but in otherwise good condition for its age.
