The Scottish Northern Fire Brigade was in force for 8 years only from 1975 to 1983 when it became Highlands & Islands Fire Brigade. Prior to 1975 the brigade was known as Northern Area Fire Brigade from 1948 after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service ) handed back fire control to Regional County & County Borough Fire Brigades. This cap badge manufactured by Mike Trueman Badges of Birmingham is in excellent condition, the enamel centre attached to the standard fully pressed Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear.
