A rarer badge for the British Fire Brigade cap badge specialists collection, a badge in force for only 8 years !
This Ministry Of Aviation Fire Brigade cap badge first issued in 1959 when this government department was set up. Merging into The Ministry Of Technology in 1967. This only lasted for 3 years until 1970 & it is not known that a fire service cap badge was issued during this short period naming it as such. The Ministry of Aviation Fire Brigade merged again in 1970 with The Board Of Trade & the fire service were issued with a Board Of Trade Fire Service cap badge. The Ministry Of Aviation was responsible for both Civil & Military aviation but later a seperate Ministry of Civil Aviation Fire & Rescue Service was formed.
This cap badge is a one piece fully pressed Government issued Home Office star cap badge with the enamel Q.C ( Queen Elizabeth 2nd St Edwards Crown 1953 to 2022 ), an enamel circlet around the initials E.R II ( Elizabeth 2nd Reign ), both cap fixing lugs are intact to the rear of the cap badge.
