Very nice WW1 (World War 1 1914 to 1918) Military Medal accompanied by an engraved French Military Medal WW1.
Awarded to Sergeant G.A Flynn serving with the Royal Artillery (R.A.) & The Royal Garrison Artillery (R.G.A.) number 15378. His papers are in the Public Records Office (P.R.O) & both medals were awarded for bravery as confirmed but not much further information has been discovered!
The inscription on the French Military Medal is to Sergeant G.A. Flynn R.G.A. & undoubtably earned by him in a very courageous manner, both medals representing acts of gallantry & devotion to duty under fire!
115,000 Military Medals were awarded during WW1, the first in 1914 although the medal actually established in 1916. The British George 5th WW1 Military Medal is court mounted & looks as if it has been kept clean although not polished, the French Military Medal is in original uncleaned condition. Please see all photo’s for better images on this very interesting Military Medal duo to a British sergeant.
