MBE Boxed George 5th 1st Pattern Civilian WW1 Medal with Home office Paperwork - Nice early George 5th Civilian 1st Type Medal M.B.E. (Member Of The British Empire) hallmarked silver and in original box of issue with Home Office letter.
This fine medal, (or badge as it is referred to), was awarded to Ernest Boyanton for his service to The War Effort in W.W.1 1914 to 1918! The box good average condition for its age showing surface scratches, makers label inside the box is Garrard & Co, famous London silver makers of the period and the medal itself is hallmarked London 1917 and was crafted by Sebastian Garrard himself who registered in London as a silversmith in 1901. The clasp and fitting assembly are perfect working condition closing and opening the box very smoothly.
The ribbon is also in perfect condition, brooch clasp fitting and pin to rear for attachment to a jacket.
