A very rare Macclesfield Volunteer Fire Brigade 1857 to 1901 large helmet badge worn on the "Manchester Pattern" leather helmets issued during this period. In excellent condition, this is one of 3 rare helmet badges which emerged from an old collectors loft. The original leather helmets were in extremely poor condition and were thrown out years ago but the badges were extremely good condition for the age.
