Genuine piece of 1970’s Retro memorabilia with this obsolete London Metropolitan Police helmet. Known as the famous “British Bobbies” helmet, these popular world renown & recognized helmets formed many a foreigners mind of what to find in London alongside a “Beefeater” & a phone or post box. Certainly in the 1960’s & 70’s the “look” of a British policeman was symbolized by his headgear & made him world famous!

This original custodian helmet as they are known, is average condition for its age, a few minor moth marks to the rear, the badge is 1960’s/70’s white metal London Metropolitan Police & the black helmet rim is intact. The liner & chin strap intact & a number is crudely scratched into the plastic rear of the helmet 655XS? It’s a large size 59, the inner shell being complete & access to the top white metal rosette from inside. The rosette is dented but can be pulled out or replaced as spares are easy to come by for this widely popular helmet!
