An original 1st pattern post war 1948 to 1952 rarer & hard to get London L.C.C Fire Brigade ( London County Council ) ! The badge has an excellent gilt patina coupled with the enamel shield, England flag with lion above the waves of "Father Thames" which runs through London & has the "closed towers" variation used for only 4 years ! The post 1952 to 1965 cap badges were redesigned with open towers & had both gilt & chrome variations although the gilt were the very common & the chrome much rarer !
This cap badge of the 1st post war London Fire Brigade also has the standard economy issue home office star & rear cap attachment lugs rather than the slider variation which is so much more common for most London variations of post war cap badges ! The lugs are showing very slight copper where the chrome has been worn away which does indeed indicate a very early badge. One point of note is the small enamel chip to the base of the shield enamel above the gilt title scroll, otherwise the badge patina is in excellent condition & the price reflects this small defect as our normal price for this cap badge is £40 to £45 depending on condition !
