London Fire Brigade changed its title & badge in 1965 replacing the London LCC logo ( London County Council ) with this pattern, the 3rd post war London Fire Brigade cap badge. There are varieties in existence with both fat & thin crowns, also chrome & gilt versions . In 1988 when the brigade again changed its name & badge, 2 more crowns were added to the badge!
This particular GLC cap badge is the gilt “fat crown” variety & in extremely fine condition for a used cap badge. The badge has definitely been worn on a cap, the slider to the rear of the Marples & Beasley Manufactured Home Office Star shows signs of such, the manufacturers name stamped nicely on it. The front of the badge is in very fine condition retaining its gilded gold gilt patina throughout & is a very nice condition cap badge from the London pre 1988 G.L.C era !
