Lincolnshire Fire Brigade was formed in 1974 when the Fire Services Act of that year merged all previous smaller county borogh fire brigades into county fire services. Lincolnshire had 37 fire stations covering the new larger area of 2,250 square miles after taking in former brigades of Holland County, Lindsey County, Kesteven County & Lincoln City.
There are 2 main variations of cap badge for Lincolnshire Fire Brigade being a small disc of 1.5mm with small shield & a larger disc of 2mm with large shield. The large shield variation is harder to obtain than small shield variations. This cap badge is the small disc / shield variation manufactured by Gaunt Badge Making Company of London, official suppliers to the brigade. In good condition with both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge, the enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue lined Home Office star.
