A Leeds City Fire Brigade post ww2 cap badge.

Leeds City Fire Brigade was formed in 1948 after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control to regional county & county borough fire brigades.

With 5 fire stations covering 60 square miles of the Leeds City area, the brigade lasted until 1974 when the Fire Services Act merged all small county borough fire brigades into county fire services, Leeds City Fire Brigade merged into the newly formed West Yorkshire Fire Service !

There are 4 different variations of cap badge issued to Leeds City Fire Brigade personel during it's post war 26 year period. 2 main colour variations being chrome base or gilt base & 2 further variations to each being smooth background or dimpled background.

This variation manufactured by Mike Trueman Badges of Birmingham is the chrome dimpled variation. The enamel centre fixed to the standard issue, fully pressed Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge.
