A Scottish post WW2 ( World War 2 ) fire brigade set up after the abolition of the National Fire Service in 1947 handing over control of fire brigades to local authorities after being de nationalized! 

Covering an area of 814 square miles & incorporating 14 fire stations throughout its covering area, the Lanarkshire Fire Brigade lasted for 27 years until the new government fire service reforms of the mid 1970’s changed boundaries & titles again. Lanarkshire became part of the newly formed Strathclyde Fire Brigade which also took in other parts of the post war Scottish fire brigades which became disbanded after the new act, noteably Glasgow, Western Area & parts of South Western Area & Central Area Fire Brigades.
The Lanarkshire Fire Brigade had to variations of cap badge in force, 1 a chrome variation & the other gilt. This chrome variation badge manufactured by Mike Trueman Badges of Birmingham is in excellent condition, the enamel centre fixed to the standard fully pressed Home Office star via 2 straps, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear !
