A nice condition Hampshire Fire Brigade post 1974 Chief Fire Officers peaked hat manufactured by Bates Hatmaking Company of London, official hat suppliers to Hampshire Fire Brigade. The hat displays 2 rows of silver bullion oak leaves attached to a special shortened peak, something i have learned was preferred by many fire service senior officers. One chief officer of Hampshire in particular, Chief Officer Malcome Eastwood was renowned for sending his hats to Bates to have the normal peak removed & a shorter peak added. I have no information whether this particular hat belonged to him but his chief staff officer, later Deputy Chief Officer Alan House has confirmed this. 
The hat is in good condition for its age & would make a nice addition to any peaked hat collection.
