Gwynedd Fire Service was formed in 1974 after the Fire Services Act of that year amalgamated all former county borough fire brigades into regional county brigades. The brigades amalgamated to form Gynedd Fire Service were Anglesey Fire Department, Caernarvon Fire Service & Merioneth Fire Service. Gwynedd Fire Service consisted of 26 fire stations covering 1,493 square miles of the North Wales area & lasted 22 years when all the Welsh Fire Services again amalgamated into just 3 services being Mid & West Wales Fire Service, North Wales Fire Service & South Wales Fire Service. Gwynedd became part of North Wales Fire Service. 

This cap badge manufactured by London Badge & Button Company Ltd, official cap badge suppliers to the brigade & is in great original condition. The enamel centre fitted to the standard issue fully pressed Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge.
