An original early issue light red variation of the Glasgow Fire Service 1948 to 1975 cap badge. There is some enamel damage to the enamel of the badge but badge is complete. Both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge & the enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star. A nice original early badge issue owing to the brass lugs showing chrome a rubbed chrome coating. Later issues were all chrome lugs.
Glasgow Fire Service post ww2 & N.F.S ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) was formed in 1948 after the N.F.S handed back fire control to regional county & county borough fire brigades.
