The Faithful Service decoration was instituted on 30.10.1938 as a means to recognize civil servants and public works personnel. Hitler's intention was to create an incentive for loyal civilians who were willing to contribute to the needs of the Fatherland by providing a stable work environment and civil service within the free economic system. 3 classes were awarded for continuous service with the same employer: "Special Class" in gold for 50 years, 1st class in gold for 40 years, and 2nd class in silver for 25 years. All 3 classes followed the same basic design with a black enameled swastika on the obverse and "Fur treue Dienste" (For faithful Service) or "Fur treue Arbeit" (For faithful Work) on the reverse.
This 2nd class 25 year boxed medal is in good condition with original felt lined 25 year box of issue. Die struck from a nickel alloy & silver plated, it also retains its original ribbon which is in good condition & the black enamel swastika to the obverse of the medal is also perfect with no chips!
