The Fire Service Technical College situated approximately 3 kilometers outside the villiage of Morton In The Marsh in Gloucestershire County was opened in 1968 as an alternative to The Fire Service Staff College specifically for senior fire brigade officers to enhance their careers ! The Fire Service Technical College, a former R.A.F ( Royal Air Force ) dissused airfield from ww2 ( world war 2 1939 to 1945) was acquired by the government in 1966 with the specific purpose of training non senior fire service officers & lower ranking firefighters. In 1981 the senior officers training centre at Wolton House in Dorking, Surrey was closed & ALL firefighter training transfered to Moreton In The Marsh Fire Service Technical College ! In 2013 the fire service training at Moreton In The Marsh Fire Service Training College was privatised after much deliberation & the training handed over to Capita. The cap badges ceased to be issued & a new cap badge was issued by Capita. These Fire Service Technical College cap badges have NEVER been copied due to crown copyright over Home Office cap badges, hefty fines & prison sentences are metered out to anyone caught so these original cap badges are in great demand from collectors !
