An original used early issue Fife Fire Brigade 1948 to 1985 cap badge which is complete but has a small chip to the enamel centre. The centre is fixed to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star and both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge. These have brass showing through indicating a late 1940's early 1950's issue. Solid chrome lugs were attached to later issues. 
Fife Fire Brigade formed in 1948 after changeover from the N.F.S ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ), who handed back fire control to regional county & county borough + town fire brigades.  15 fire stations covering 504 square miles, the brigade lasting 37 years changed title to Fife Fire & Rescue Service in 1985 and changing the badge !
