Fife Fire & Rescue Service was formed in 1985 after fire brigades in general all over the U.K. were adopting the fire & rescue service titles, reflecting the more demanding services which they were called upon to perform. Newer & more sofisticated equipement available on the market changed the roles firefighters took on with thermal imaging camera’s & greater demands for rescue as well as firefighting! Fife originally formed after the 1947 Fire Services Act transferring fire cover back to regional county & county borough control was formed in 1948. It lasted till 1985 when the new title was bestowed but Fife had maintained the same badge since 1948 unlike many brigades who changed in 1974 & 1975 for Scotland! There were 2 patterns of the badge & a later pattern was introduced in 1975 which was slightly different from the early patterns.
This cap badge manufactured by Mike Trueman badges of Birmingham is in excellent condition, no enamel chips & an officers cap badge which are much harder to obtain than normal firefighters cap badges!
