The National Army of the German Demokratic Republic (D.D.R.) formed its National Volksarmee (NVA) in 1956 and was in force until 1991 with the collapse of the Eastern Block Warsaw Pact countries. This helmet is in excellent condition and in what looks unissued condition with the liner and chinstrap almost mint. A very nice piece of Cold War military history.
