Dorset Fire Brigade was born after WW2 & the 1947 Fire Services Act giving back regional fire control to counties & county borough's from the National Fire Service. It remained Dorset Fire Brigade after the 1974 reforms taking in control of all county borough fire brigades to county fire brigades & remained so until 1998 when at that time many fire services & brigades around the country were slowly changing their titles to reflect the more valuable roles in rescue that they were undertaking! Dorset changed their title in 1998 to Dorset Fire & Rescue Service & this cap badge is in excellent condition & bears the Jeeves manufacturers stamp mark to the rear of the badge. Jeeves & Co of Waterloo, Liverpool are the only official suppliers to the fire brigade, copies have been made but DO NOT have the factory stamp mark to the rear distinguishing them from originally issued cap badges.
