The post 1948 Dorset Fire Brigade lasted till 1998 when the brigade changed its title to Dorset Fire & Rescue Service. The pre 1974 Dorset badge was blue & red enamel & changed in 1974 to the variation pictured. There are 2 distinct variations of this cap badge. One being where there is a gap between the middle turret of the shield & the other where the middle turret is connected to the enamel circlet.

This is the turret with gap variation & in good condition. Both cap fixing lugs are intact to the rear
