Devon County Fire Service was formed in 1947 after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control to regional county & county borough fire brigades. 

Devon County Fire Service boasted 51 fire stations throughout the county & also assisted smaller town brigades such as Exeter & Plymouth on larger fires. 

This cap badge is the 1st pattern 1948 to 1974 cap badge & in good original condition. The enamel centre fixed to the economy issue home office lined star via a thin brass pin & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear, the lugs showing brass which ius an inication of an early produced cap badge.
