Devon County Fire Service was formed in 1947 after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control to regional county & county borough fire brigades. 
Devon County Fire Service boasted 51 fire stations throughout the county & also assisted smaller town brigades such as Exeter & Plymouth on larger fires. 
Manufactured by Mike Trueman Badges of Birmingham this cap badge is the 1st pattern 1948 to 1974 officers cap badge & in good condition. The enamel centre fixed to the fully pressed home office star & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear
