This cap badge is the gilt enamel coat of arms variation with the enamel centre fixed to the flat backed home office star. In force for just 8 years from 1966 to 1974 this is the 3rd pattern City Of Coventry post 1948 cap badge. The first was a brass shield issued from 1948 to 1952, the 2nd pattern issued from 1952 to 1966 is the enamelled shield variation & this badge, the 3rd issue from 1966 to 1974.
