Cleveland Fire Brigade was formed in 1997 after dropping the word "county" from the title formed in 1974 as Cleveland County Fire Brigade. Maintaining the same fire cover area of 225 square miles with 14 fire stations there are 2 variations of cap badge in force during the 7 years until further title change to Fire & Rescue Service in 2004. Both are desireable to collectors because of the short period the fire brigade operated for. One is a 1 piece cap badge & the other is a light blue variation in 2 pieces as most badges are. 1 piece cap badges were manufactured by Jeeves Badges of Liverpool whereas the 2 piece light blue cap badge was manufactured by London Button & Badge Company.
This London Badge & Button Company 2 piece cap badge is in excellent condition with both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear. The enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star via 2 short tabs through a central horizontal lance cut slot & is the light blue variation.
