Cleveland County Fire Brigade was formed in 1974 after the Fire Services Act of that year merged all previous county borough fire brigades into regional county fire services, Brigades that amalgamated to form the new Cleveland County Fire Brigade were Teeside Fire Brigade, Hartlepool Fire Brigade, Middlesborough Fire Brigade and parts of North Riding Fire Brigade ! Cleveland had 14 fire stations covering 225 square miles of area.

This cap badge manufactured by Firmin Badge Company of London, one of the official cap badge suppliers to the Cleveland County Fire Brigade is in excellent condition. The gilt enamel centre fixed to the standard fully pressed issue Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge.
