Cleveland County Fire Brigade was formed in 1974 after the Fire Services Act of that year merged all previous county borough fire brigades into regional county fire services, Brigades that amalgamated to form the new Cleveland County Fire Brigade were Teeside Fire Brigade, Hartlepool Fire Brigade, Middlesborough Fire Brigade and parts of North Riding Fire Brigade !Cleveland had 14 fire stations covering 225 square miles of area.
