The Chester Fire Service was formed in 1948 as a County Borough Fire Brigade and was a small brigade protecting the City of Chester and surrounding areas. In 1974 it was absorbed into the new Chesire Fire Service, created when a new fire service act was introduced to absorb all the small county borough brigades into county fire services.Chester City Fire Brigade had just 1 station covering 6 square miles of the City of Chester area & original cap badges are hard to come by. This cap badge with the enamel coat of arms attached to the standard lined economy issue home office star via a thin brass pin, 2 cap fixing lugs also intact to the rear of the cap badge !
