Chester Fire Service was formed in 1948 as a County Borough Fire Brigade and was a small brigade protecting the City of Chester and surrounding areas. In 1974 it was absorbed into the new Chesire Fire Service, created when a new fire service act was introduced to absorb all the small county borough brigades into county fire services.

Chester City Fire Brigade had just 1 station covering 6 square miles of the City of Chester area & original cap badges are hard to come by. This cap badge manufactured by Mike Trueman Badges of Birmingham is in excellent condition, the enamel centre fixed to the fully pressed home office star & both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear !
