British Guiana was a British Colony since the late 1700's after capturing the colony from the French during hostilities between the 2 nations & at the end of The Napoleonic Wars in 1814 became an official British Colony. Part of The British West Indies on the northern coast of South America the British handed back independance in 1966 becoming the nation of Guyana !
This cap badge is the 2nd pattern cap badge manufactured by Mike Trueman Badges of Birmingham. The 1st pattern was white metal with the leters BG FB & the English crown above the badge. Changing pattern in the 1950's & lasting till independance in 1966, the badge is in good condition with the enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star by 2 straps, the 2 cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge.
