A Bradford City Fire Brigade 1948 to 1974 cap badge. Bradford City Fire Brigade post ww2 was formed in 1948 when the NFS ( National Fire Service 1941 to 1947 ) handed back regional fire control to county & county borough fire brigades. Bradford had 3 fire stations covering a radius of 40 square miles of the Bradford area in what is now West Yorkshire County. The Bradford City Fire Brigade officers enamel cap badge is one of the hardest original cap badges to obtain of post war British fire brigade cap badges fetching as much as 300 to 400 pounds when any come up for sale. This cap badge is the ordinary firefighters & junior officers cap badge & is in original condition. The enamel centre fixed to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star. One cap fixing lug is missing from the rear of the badge hence the price.
