An original 2nd pattern Bolton Fire Brigade post war cap badge, the 2nd in use for this post war county borough fire brigade. These particular coat of arms badges are desireable to collectors because the coat of arms badges of this period stand out from the many red ring varieties making them prized additions to collections and they are getting scarcer to find.

Bolton post war fire brigade was formed in 1947 when the National Fire Service ( 1941 to 1947 ) handed back fire control to regional county & county borough fire brigades. With only one fire station covering 24 square miles of the Bolton area, not so many badges were ordered by cash strapped smaller county borough brigades. Many of the 2nd pattern cap badges ended up on axe retirement boards & also the many collectors of the period & since. They do come up occassionally & as i buy whole collections in, sometimes just to obtain one or 2 badges or variations i dont have, i manage to offer these spare harder to obtain badges to my many collectors who have visited me since starting this little hobby website to sell off a few spares back in 2013. Now i have collectors both in UK & abroad visiting me as an established specialist so here is the latest Bolton 2nd pattern badge i can offer.

The badge is in great used condition and has the chrome enamel centre attached to the fully pressed issue Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the cap badge.
