Blackpool Fire Brigade had 3 fire stations covering 17 square miles & merged into Lancashire Fire Brigade in 1974 after being disbanded by The Fire Services Act of the same year. The pre war Blackpool Fire Brigade cap badge was a "flaming bomb" grenade style cap badge with the bold letters BFB on the front.
This issue badge is the 2nd post 1948 issue depicting the chrome Blackpool coat of arms. The badge is in excellent condition with the coat of arms centre attached to the standard economy issue lined home office star & both cap fixing lugs are intact to the rear, the centre being held by the thin brass pin as standard to most fire brigade cap badges of the era.
