The much harder to obtain Blackpool Fire Brigade post war cap badge in force for only 8 years from 1948 to 1956 when the brigade changed its cap badge design to the chrome coat of arms !
Blackpool Fire Brigade had 3 fire stations covering 17 square miles & merged into Lancashire Fire Brigade in 1974 after being disbanded by The Fire Services Act of the same year. The pre 1941 Blackpool Fire Brigade cap badge was a "flaming bomb" grenade style cap badge with the bold letters BFB on the front. This cap badge is the first post war pattern adopted in 1948 & the enamel centre is attached to the fully pressed Home Office star by a thin brass pin. Both cap fixing lugs are intact to the rear of the badge. There is some minor wear in places on the chrome where faint brass is showing which is the base metal colour but overall the badge is certainly good enough for a collection as an original & harder to obtain Blackpool Fire Brigade cap badge in force for only 8 short years !
