This large brass fireman's tunic button depicts the shield of Birmingham which i believe was adopted by the 1st permanent chief officer of Birmingham Fire Brigade. Alfred Robert Tozer. He was chief officer from 1879 until 1906 when he died & was famous for the many achievements he made towards a more modern & effective fire brigade of the time. The button is in excellent condition & is a great example to own.
